ScAtTeRbOnEChilly Summer Day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 7, 2009

It was an unseasonably cool day. Great hike up from Lincoln Gap, summit views were incredible. The clouds were shooting accross the sky. Visited the plane wreck just off the summit too.

jtellisclear spring day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 4, 2009

hiked up via battell trail. was on top for an hour and a half, and other than two people passing through for about 10 minutes, the peak was all mine the entire time. great views, lots of sun. this is a great time of year to hike, before the black flies, leaves, and tourists come out. just wish i hadn't forgotten the battery for my camera. :(

Climbed with Ellen via the Long Trail from Lincoln Gap. Plenty of wildflowers along the trail. Still some patches of snow below the summit. Beautiful views of the Lake Champlain valley from the top. Not a lot of people out today.

Amazing views but pretty crowded. We started hiking from the Cooley Glen Shelter, went up Abe, back to Cooley Glen, and kept going south to Roosevelt. 18.6 mile day.

Date Climbed: Oct 1, 2007

The morning fog never lifted at the summit. It was windy as well. A good hike, nonetheless.

Finally! After hiking in some awful stuff for a couple of days this was nice, even if we had to leave Vermont. Well, I'll be back.

Hiked up sugarbush and over to mt. abe for the winter ascent, then went over to Mt. Ellen. Not much for views in the fog.

Wind and rain. Boo.

Arrived with my sis, Half Mile, and a couple other nobo section hikers but didn't linger.

Nighted in Sugarbush's warming hut a welcome refuge.

Aesop74Route Climbed: Lincoln Gap - Mt. Abraham to Mt. Ellen and back Date Climbed: 10/7/2005  Sucess!
Wet, Windy and cold with limited views. Climbed Abraham in just under 2 hours then began the long hike out to Mt. Ellen and back. This part was tough. My the time we returned to Abraham it took us 2 hours in the rain the descend from Abe. Well worth the trip even in the rain. The ridge and cols between Abraham and Ellen make for a pretty aggressive hike at 12.6 miles round trip. This route includes Little Abe, Lincoln Peak, Nancy Hanks Peak, Cutts Peak and finally Mt. Ellen 3.7 miles from Abraham.

I did this one on a rather wet day, and only saw one other person the whole time at Battell shelter. Summit was windy, wet, and viewless. Celebrated by drinking a Long Trail Ale on the Long Trail. Rained the whole way back to the car.

dobsonianRoute Climbed: Lincoln Gap -> LT -> to Mt. Hellen RT Date Climbed: August 23, 2005  Sucess!

Weather man promised sun but it never happened, surprised at the elevation before you broke tree line, it was maybe 30-50' from the top but sure enough alpine grass as promised and a nice (if not cloudy) view. Found the benchmark in the cirlcle of stone but this wasn't my final resting point, I still had 4 more miles to reach Mt. Ellen and return before sunset.
