| Another dayhike on my quest for the South >6000. Five days prior I had been with my son up Gibbs Mt, clothed in shorts and a t-shirt. This day was cold and snowy.I parked on the parkway, at Black Mt Gap and ascended the old Boundary trail to Potato Knob. I followed the ridge to the towers on Clingmans Peak, to Gibbes and then to ranger station. Temp 19 degrees, wind 10-20 mph and blowing snow. Ascended Hallback then back to car on Buncombe Horse trail. What a weather change. This route is not maintained, tricky turns. |
