geoseanMy Nectarine!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 20, 2007

I hiked here from Damfino Lakes this time. While sitting on the summit my pack tipped over and my suculent nectarine rolled out and all the way down the meadow slopes to the south. If you see a fruit tree growing down there it's 'cause of me.

While in between 3 day hikes/climbs, Flanders and I wanted to take it easy but keep our legs loose. We chose this one from a book to see another part of the North Cascades from where we were. Camped in Douglas Fir Campground the night before and then headed up in the morning. Great hike through old growth forests to Damfino Lakes which were beautiful. More forests and then the meadows opened up. Very breathtaking place. Made the summit quickly and WOW, the payoff views were amazing. Baker is in your lap, Shuksan too. Then the peaks to the north caused me to go nuts of my digital camera taking shot after shot. Talked to two others on the summit and lounged in the sun for a while. Then headed down. Just a great little hike and well worth it. Really made me drool looking at some of the other peaks up there too. Too bad it is already getting colder and the season is about done.
