Maparraju is a good mountain for the acclimatisation process, it is in a valley not very frequented by the mountain climbers and has very good views of many snow-covered very great among them the mitico cayesh

most of our group made it to the top successfully. Fairly busy mountain. Unfortunately too foggy for many views. Overall fairly straightforward snow climb with a few crevasses to cross.

Tom FralichSW Slopes, Normal Route
Date Climbed: Jul 1, 2006

Climbed with David Greenhouse during our accimatization period in the Quilcayhuanca Valley. Easy route, but with a misleadingly long approach over slabs and scree. I felt really bad on the climb, which was probably due to a pre-existing intestinal illness that became apparent on our return from the summit. After resting for 2 days in base camp, we hiked up to moraine camp for San Juan, but descended the following day, since we could find no way to pass the ice cliff low on the route and were thus unable to access the NW ridge.
