Up and down the Gondola with the family. I've also skied the mountain numerous times. Mammoth is always a treat to visit.

jpmossyfirst trip up after 8 ft of snow in 3 days!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 22, 2005

this was the most snow I've ever experienced on the mountain and also some of the coldest conditions. At one point on the peak there were 45mph gusts and -10 deg wind chill. Some friends and I literally got unwillingly pushed over a cornice! great view to ritter, banner and the minarets

Date Climbed: Jul 1, 2007

Slow climb up the Dragon's Back trail with my dear old grandmother. Still, time well spent. Opted for Gondola #2 for the way down. Probably one of the few mountains you can climb and get away with that.

Not much of a challenge (we walked up the track leading from Reds lake), but enjoyable none the less as a first acclimatisation day for Mount Whitney. Took us 2 1/2 hours up and down.

QuailBSGondola  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 23, 2007

Took the Gondola and made fun of several tourists we saw in "crocs" shoes at the top. Then we began to wonder why we bothered to wear boots... Explored the mountain a little and hiked down to Mammoth Lakes (doing so had a little more honor). Lots of Bikers up there too- looks like fun!

MelbaToast4th Of July Rocks  Sucess!

I think 4th of July is the best time to ski Mammoth (well, the best party time anyway). Then you go watch fireworks at Mono Lake and get drunk. Fun!

RobGondola

At least a couple hundred times since 1986. Skiied on 4th of July a couple of times too!

This was the mountain on which I was born as a climber. Been back ever since. Make sure you get some jerky and find a soft game in Bishop on your way back to the city.

Mountain ImpulseRoute Climbed: Gondola and Chair 23 Date Climbed: January 12-13, 2006

I suppose if there are drive-up mountains, one can report an ascent in a vehicle suspended by cables. Skiing conditions on these two days were magnificent. The sun was out in respectable quantities but the top of the mountain was raked by powerful winds throwing chunks of ice into your face. Let's you know you're on a real mountain even though there are hundreds of people below you. Have also mountain biked from the summit during the summer. What serene cruising!

ClydascopeRoute Climbed: lots Date Climbed: 1982-present  Sucess!

I've spent close to 1,500 days skiing on the mountain, worked 10 years for the resort, ridden up and down on mountain bikes long before the park opened (was involved in the first ever kamakazi race ~ 1984), hiked several different ways, ascended via snowcats, snowmobiles (been towed on skis too), motorcycles, trucks and a helicopter.

DebRoute Climbed: Panorama Gondola Date Climbed: 17 December 2005  Sucess!

A little difficult to not summit while riding in the cozy gondola - what a beautiful view of Mammoth's face! Winds were steady 35 mph at the top with biting ice in the face and diminished visibility. I haven't skiied a black diamond run in about 5 years but I hopped on that slope quick just to escape the wind and ice.

Snow conditions were perfect for getting my ski legs back, nice powder off the course (because you know I had to go get lost out of bounds!). Never saw the sun, the temps were in the 30's and we got the lightest flurry while skiing but it was a great day to be on the slopes. Apres ski dinner was made spectacular at Mammoth Brewing Company while watching the snow come down in blankets! Can't wait to get back up there!
