| From entrance to Mt Mitchell, took MST? I think, then off trailed (manway) it through open area with rock outcrops to forest at top. Great views on way up and rugged Spruce-Fir and rocks on top. Fun, short journey | |

| Oh, this page undersells Potato Knob, or "Potato Top" as it used to be called before everything had to be a "knob." The boundary trail route is about as spectacular as it gets in the NC mountains. No views? Maybe not at the top, but they're fantastic on the way up. | |
