| I was listening to Sigur Ros as I approached this peak from the east--an inspiring view, so it has a new unofficial name. I made it from Jubilee Pass to the summit in about forty minutes, thanks to a very steep route up the lower slopes to the north ridge. Awesome views of seldom seen portions of southern Death Valley--the Narrows of the Amargosa River, Owlshead Mountains, etc.
I got the feeling that this is a very rarely climbed peak. There was a pile of rusty wire and old wooden posts near the summit.
A nice descent route is the gully on the northwest side of the peak--some nice scrambling down a few dryfalls. |
