| With not a soul in sight, Deb and I scrambled up the Southeast Ridge to the summit, spotting several bighorn sheep along the way. The crux: roughly 3/4 the way along the ridge as it begins to narrow. We found a decent spot to down climb off the east side of the ridge (before the last gendarme) before continuing up to the summit. This was the last peak of the season for us, after completing the "Senior Citizen Tour" (including an ascent of Old Woman Staute the day before.....which hadn't seen an ascent in nearly 4 years!). I was shocked to see the number of DPS folks that "mass" to this peak in what seems like an annual pilgrimage (ie 21 people on one outting :P ). Descended the east face, just north of the prominant ridge off the summit. Required some tricky route finding near the top and bottom half of the mtn. 2 bottles of wine waited below....!! |
