DebHappy New Year Old Dad!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 31, 2007

Quite an interesting scramble and occasional climb to ascend and descend this peak; it is a massive animal, glad we were off of it early enough to relax that afternoon in the freezing desert with our wine. :) I understand the SE Ridge we climbed up, but that mess coming down on the east side really got my goat.....speaking of goats, there were a few watching us.

Dave Daly2007's Last Entry!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 31, 2007

With not a soul in sight, Deb and I scrambled up the Southeast Ridge to the summit, spotting several bighorn sheep along the way. The crux: roughly 3/4 the way along the ridge as it begins to narrow. We found a decent spot to down climb off the east side of the ridge (before the last gendarme) before continuing up to the summit. This was the last peak of the season for us, after completing the "Senior Citizen Tour" (including an ascent of Old Woman Staute the day before.....which hadn't seen an ascent in nearly 4 years!). I was shocked to see the number of DPS folks that "mass" to this peak in what seems like an annual pilgrimage (ie 21 people on one outting :P ). Descended the east face, just north of the prominant ridge off the summit. Required some tricky route finding near the top and bottom half of the mtn. 2 bottles of wine waited below....!!

Very nice. Total solitude and clear winter skies over the Mojave. Views off to snowy San Gorgonio to the southwest.

MoapaPkSE ridge variation & big valley  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 20, 2006

Much nicer than expected. Wingding's instructions were good.

We descended the main drainage-- a bit tricky, with a few very big dryfalls.

We never saw a wilderness boundary sign.

Went on to Kelso Peak that afternoon.

A much better peak than I was expecting, with some nice and quite exposed scrambling along the south ridge. Excellent views.

Happy List Completion for my once erstwhile driver, climbing all 99 DPS listed peaks. Perhaps three dozen climbers and well-wishers summiting this fine day. DPS trip report or my own (one photo) at THOUSAND PEAKS website.

Bob BurdRoute Climbed: East Side (ascent) / Souht Ridge (descent) Date Climbed: Dec 9, 2005  Sucess!

This was some fun scrambling, far better than Granite Mtn that Matthew and I did earlier in the day. Beautiful sunset views from the top. Trip Report
