| Started at the base of Brasstown Bald and hiked 23 miles to Dicks Creek Gap, mostly on the Appalachian Trail (took Jacks Knob trail from Brasstown to the AT; its only 2 or so miles until they connect).
Fantastic weekend; good fall colors (though not quite the peak) and pleasantly surprised at the lack of people on the trail. This was probably less crowded because its away from some of the other more visited nearby landmarks (Blood Mountain, etc.).
Views from Rocky Mountain, only a few miles to the south of Tray on the AT, are, in my opinion, much more open and thus better. The view from Tray is a little closed in by vegetation. |
