
| Drove over from Vegas one morning. Ascended Sheep via the east slope, then traversed over to Piute Mountain before returning to the saddle between Sheep and the unnamed peak (c. 12250 ft) to the east of Sheep, ultimately descending Sheep's southeast slope.
My first time in the Whites, this trip was exploratory in nature. I saw some wild horses up around 11,500 ft. There's a great lunar, surreal feeling above treeline driving that road up through those high mountains.
The bristlecones fascinated me - and still do. Relunctantly, I drove all the way back to Vegas that afternoon. Came back a week later... |
