gimpilator7th 14er in 8 days  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 11, 2009

This was one of my two favorites from my journey to Colorado. I spent the first night next to a small waterfall down in the cross creek basin. I spent a few hours ascending in the dark and then I met Carl who joined me on the way to the summit. An exceptional mountain! See my Trip Report about doing seven 14ers in eight days.

Incredible 14er...I can't believe it took me this long to climb it, having lived in Vail for nearly 4 years. Would definitely recommend an overnighter to those not used to such a long day. The climb to the pass on the way back seems twice as long as it does on the way to the top, but otherwise not too arduous. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

Yes the pass is twice as long on the way back. What a kicker, you definitely earn your views on this hike. I have waited to summit Holy Cross because I wanted to climb the mountain for the first time via the Cross Coulior, but after lots of persuasion from my wife I gave in. I am glad she talked me into it after all. Snow from recent storms made for slow going, but it was such a beautiful day it really didn't phase us.

Training hike for Rainier. Good pack miles, nothing real tough. Nice peak.

My first fourteener. I didn't think I was going to make it. Getting engaged on top of the world certainly made it a lot easier on the way out:) Recommend doing it in two days.

My first fourteener. An awesome day with a good friend, and we were able to hitch a ride down Tigiwon road to bypass the 8 mile slog. Awesome

Long Route for one day. I would reccomend camping, that would make the climb a lot more enjoyable. It is still an enjoyable climb for one day, but I would reccomeened a VERY early start for one day.
