| The wind on the summit of Lion Head was probably in the 80-90 mph range, so I bailed on my Mt. Washington attempt. I literally could not walk forward in the incredibly strong and steady wind. The twelve people who started up before me that day all turned around. | |

| ICE every where kick ass drove from colorado hiked to summit and rode left gully. i slid on ice for the first 100 feet out of control | |

| Ascended via Tuckerman, decided to come down Lion Head thinking it might be a little easier. I didn't think it was. Of course, I was in 60-80 mph winds, but if I had to do it over again, I would absolutely have descended via Tucks again. I didn't really see a big difference b/w the two routes. | |

| Third winter ascent of Washington on this route. Windy and -20 to -30F wind chill. Not the best conditions but not the worst I have ascended in. | |

| Windy at first but overall a fine day, not much below freezing with a coating of firm fresh snow. Crampons were helpful but not strictly necessary - a few people bare-booted it, others used ice axes and actually roped up, you meet all kinds of people on this mountain. I got the chance to meet "Monroe" on Lion's Head. | |
