Tomas Kristoforyautumn ascend  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 27, 2008

We ascended Ortler on 204th anniversary of the first ascend on it. I cannot imagine how could they summit it that late in the season at early 19th century, when no hut existed (neither Payer, nor Tabaretta). It must have been extreme achievement. Now, this route took everything from me, I was at my current limits to climb it and to get back safely. We had a wonderful weather with clouds inversion.

I enjoyed this route a lot. It was not a boring normal route especially the rocky part. And the hanging glaciers are out of the world.

Too many people at the normal route. Beautifull mountain.

John ClimberSummer course climb  Sucess!

This was our highlight of the summer alpine course of 2002. We climbed Ortler very quickly with the help of an austrian mountain guide. The rocky sections were not so easy but a guide gives one secureness and we went quickly through it. The galcier was in good conditions.
