SJLangley w/ the Old Man  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 12, 2009

The second 14er I've climbed with my pops, a great trip. Thought he was going to poop out 13,500' and I went ahead, but then he met me on top about 15 minutes after I made it.

Started to blow hard on top and the thunder and lightning came just as we were starting to descend Old Army Pass shutting down the summit for a few hours.

Not that bad of a slog, nice scenery. The last hour to the summit is the sandiest and more of a slog

We also made it up the pass very quickly, but assending the ridge took a loooong time! We did the 4th class boulders right in the middle, which was a real fun scramble to the top. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Maybe its just me, but I flew up to the pass and everything after that seemed endless. Great other-worldly expanse.

Date Climbed: Jul 15, 2007

Nice cool and cloudy day made this trip sweet. Usually hit both passes two or three times each year. The lakes basin here is gorgeous, good camping and fishing. Some of the fast guys can dayhike to the Miter or Pickering from Horseshoe.

justinjohnsenStill a snow patch  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 22, 2007

Army Pass still had a snow patch up top when we hiked it last Friday (last 50' or so). Pretty thick and icy, nobody had crossed it recently. We followed others' footprints and climbed the rocks around it. Other than that, no snow around Langley. Awesome views from the top, and enjoyed some mild class 3 stuff on the south slope on the way down.

Went up Old Army, went back via New Army. I like Old Army better! By August there was just a teeny little patch of snow that we had to cross going up Old Army.
