| I would like to report that my good friend Tom Brogan from San Diego soloed the Winter Route RT in a day from the car parked by the Stone House trail. Tom self belayed some 5.8 climbing at the top of the gully (below the Notch) climbed some ice in the notch (with aluminum crampons and one tool,he reported needing steel gear) and soloed the rest, even the Carmona/Smrz 5.7 friction variation on the upper buttress. What an awesome effort! This is yet another success for a guy who always seem to up the effort a notch or two. Congrats Tom!! |
