One of many. Fun winter route for those in the east.

Athos791Fun..  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 29, 2009

We had more "winter" conditions rather than the spring conditions one would hope for.. Freezing rain, whiteout and wind. We made it to the top of the lions head before turning around. Very fun route, but it is really icy at this time, so take care on the steep sections.

woodsxcI robbed the weather gods blind!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Feb 28, 2009

We had a beautiful day and perfect conditions. The views stretched on for miles and miles. This was my first "real" winter mountaineering trip and it was awesome. Is it easy? Well it's not technical, but that doesn't make it any less fun.

Patrick BFailed Summit and Summit  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 13, 2009

The first day we got above the treeline and a girl got hypothermia. We went down and tried again the next day (without her) and made the summit in perfect conditions!

Sam PageLuge  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 5, 2008

The "luge" was alarmingly steep and crowded in places, though preferable to baking in a small room with a snoring stranger at the Joe Dodge Lodge the night before. I'm not sure I'll repeat this route.

fridayFirst winter climb on any mountain for me  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Mar 15, 2008

Drove overnight from Michigan. Arrived at 3AM. Left Pinkham Notch 8AM. Met up with climbers from the Green Mountain Club of Vermont, who allowed me to tag along with them (many, many thanks from me to you guys). Foggy, but extremely warm for March, and absolutely no wind. Had a undercast at around 5500ft. Even though we were still immersed in fog, all members of our group got sunburned on our faces. Summit was cool, but not cold nor windy. Excellent first time winter summit experience.
