did this hike with squishy to train for Brewer in SEKI. the trail(head) is less than 50 ft east from where the canyon hits HWY 50. there's a big downed tree (3 ft in diameter or so) which the trail runs past, quite close to the road. there is no trail with a snowpack.

Awesome hike, the trail was well worn and easy to follow. Cairns mark the entire trail to the summit block and a hub cap was placed at the trail head (don't know how long that will last). The last stretch to the summit was a boulder field, but the majority of the trail is dusty and free of rocks and climbing.

This is about the most direct route to the summit. Fairly agressive day hike, too.
