Timothy PearlGood day, poor weather  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 14, 2009

Climbed with MikeyB. Clear skies at the trailhead turned to misty rain, then socked in above ~13,800. Low temps meant low threat of lightning, so we kept going. Wet rock and cloud made for a good adventurous day. 0430-1500.

Date Climbed: Aug 21, 2008
Nice day turned into Epic when my partner started to get very weak after the Loft. Took us the better of 17 hrs to do the Loft-Keyhole loop back to the car.

NarendraClark's arrow

Climbed to Longs Via Clark's Arrow in October. very Windy and a nice alternative to the standard Keyhole route - class 3 with a move or two of class 4 (down climb).

Summited Meeker, Pagoda, Storm, and Longs via the Loft and Keyhole routes, a fun but grueling day.

volda2000Loft to Keyhole Loop  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 8, 2008

The Loft route is a great way to climb this peak. Descending the Standard Keyhole route gives you the full flavor of this wonderful mountain.

Date Climbed: Aug 8, 2007

Wonderful route. I found the Clark's Arrow cut off on an earlier exploratory trip by going the long way first (descending the Loft westward to the base of Keplinger's Couloir). This route is a great way to avoid the crowds on Longs in summer. I also found that the waiting line on the Homestretch can be easily avoided by scrambling up a line parallel to it's left.

WestEndAllStarRound trip via the loft  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 17, 2007

Did the Loft with a descent of the Keyhole - a great way to circumnavigate the peak. Routefinding between the loft and the summit is very straightforward; follow the cairns and they will lead you to the steep gulley and past Clark's arrow.

rpaceFun route!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 22, 2007

It was my first climb of Longs, and after descending the Keyhole route, I think I much prefer this route.

Nathan HooblerClark's Arrow  Sucess!

The Loft is a terrific way to get to the top of an already terrific mountain.

We did manage to find Clark's Arrow. To provide a bit of beta, I would say to look a bit farther to the right as you're coming off the Loft. Our first inclination was to go down, but cairns led right before descending very far. The cairns led the way to the correct gully. The gully that leads to Clark's Arrow is also very steep...probably more like 4th class for a move or two. From the top, it looks like you will cliff out before the bottom, but it all works out. As has been mentioned elsewhere, the Arrow isn't really visible until after you finish the gully and is more useful to assure you that you did the right route, rather than to point the way.

Mountain JimLess traffic  Sucess!

A pleasant way up Longs, and you can get Meeker, too.
Total ascents = 2.

JayCOLong day w/ two class 4 variations  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 6, 2006
Glad we chose this less traveled route. Decided to climb some class 4 pitches up the cliffs below the loft instead of taking the ledge. Not bad at all. Route finding was difficult near the pallisades. Did not drop below the pallisades, took the class 4 route across. Exposure was drastic.

Good climb up, awful slog on the way down the keyhole route.

ChrisFun day!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 27, 2006

Did Clarks Arrow on Longs today after Meeker. Was a good time. The routefinding was pretty straighforward. Good scrambling below the Homestretch. No snow on route at all...

big_gLoft 4th cl variation  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 10, 2002

Well it took a little time to figure out where to go but eventually I transitioned past the Palisades. Loft/Clarks Arrow is a great route and the 4th class variation spices it up a bit.
