| We took 2 hours from the car to get to the notch where the route proper starts (the approach gully is not as severe as published reports indicate). 3 hours of fun but sometimes ledgy and sandy climbing, and we were on the summit at 12:30 pm. Over so soon? Well, we made up for it by spending a full 2 hours (personal record) lazing about on the summit, which has the best view of all the local peaks in the area. A nap was nice to have. We made many single rope rappels down the route, reaching the basin within 2 hours for another rest in the afternoon sun. (Many cute marmots). We were amazed to have the route for ourselves on this beautiful late summer day! |
