Fastastic route and fantastic weather. Petzoldt ridge to Upper Exum. Started from high camp at 5:15 and hit the summit at 10:45.

jaredspetzoldt ridge  Sucess!

i've climbed the petzoldt ridge twice, led by phil fulton both times; the first time we got lost on the route-finding and ended up climbing a variation of the underhill ridge; we got to the top where the rappel to the exum is and ended up going back down, leaving his cams and basically his whole rack.

it was a brutal climb but it was one of the most memorable things i've ever done.

Sam PagePetzoldt Ridge  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 4, 1996

My partner took two 5-10 foot lead falls on this route. It turns out it was his first lead climb ever. Sean! After I took the lead, I almost fell in the same spot after the spike of my ice axe got caught under a roof and I was stuck in a thigh-bursting sitting position for a few minutes, until finally wiggling free after much whimpering. Another close call in the Tetons. Nevertheless, we made the summit via the Upper Exum.
