WasatchvoyageOnly ran into 1 troop of scouts.  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 7, 2008

I arrived at the Mona Pole trailhead at 7:00 a.m., and made it to the peak sharing the entire mountain with myself and about 3 deer perched high up on North Peak. Once reaching the north sub-peak, the mountain seemed to be generating it's own weather on the east side. The west side was clear. The final push to the summit from this point was interesting as the route was obscured by clouds half the time. Unfortunately when I made the summit the weather had pretty much closed in all around making visibility perhaps 50 meters.

On the descent, the clouds began to grow more dark. Once at Wolf Pass, a boy scout troop was arriving off of North Peak. After chatting for a little bit, the rain and thunder started and lasted for about an hour. All in all a great climb even with limited views.

hiked from the dirt parking lot up to north peak, then down to wolf pass and up to the summit of North Nebo. Saw ~20 people on the trail, saw even more people over on the south summit. really pretty, the aspens are just barely starting to turn color - probably 50 trees total i saw that were starting to turn. 3.5 up, 3 down.

rharrisGreat Route  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jul 27, 2008

My 11 year old son and I summitted by this North Route. Directions to the trailhead are spot on. We got started early due to a forecast of thunderstorms in the area, reached the summit by 10 am, not quite 3 hours to summit. The weather held. The trail is a good trail, relatively flat for the first half, including a nice contour-traverse around North Peak to Wolf Pass. From there it is steep ridge walking, with a couple of dicey spots, and slow going in places, but nothing too bad. Views from the top are amazing. We had the whole mountain to ourselves, never saw another soul.

spengyNorth Peak was Nice...
Date Climbed: Sep 15, 2007

I went with some friends on a saturday. We finally got to the trailhead around noon, and they weren't real gung-ho about hiking the whole thing anyways, so we just did the North Peak.

Trail was not very difficult. It was very windy though.

There were more people than I expected on this route, but it was still a great climb and a beautiful day. Better trail than I expected as well.

vanman798The New Timp?  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 3, 2007

I couldn't believe the amount of traffic that was on this route. Maybe the high volume was due to the fact that it was Labor Day, but it was a surprise to see at least 20 people on the trail.

Quit steep, but overall not an overly strenuous climb. At a moderate pace the peak can be reached in 3.5 hours. Great views. Less physically challenging then the South Peak via Andrew's Ridge.

When we reached the peak, me bumped into ridgegirl, and we made a quick video, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Heptm6Jxb4

The Uinta National Forest website has a great map in pdf format that shows the trail. See http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/uinta/recreation/trails/sf/089_northpeak/tr089_northpeak.pdf

Moogie737Early snow  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 4, 2006

With a massive low pressure system grinding toward Utah, the weather was questionable. Ladd and I left the TH just before 8 a.m. and reached the summit at 11:15, having negotiated many portions of the trail through 4"-5" or more of snow. Very breezy. Got out of Dodge just in time, and the final hour of the hike was accomplished in a driving rain. At least it was a "warm" rain! The fall colors east of Mt. Nebo were breathtaking.
