But would not want to go this route in the winter. There was enough steepness on the lower mountain to be exposed to avalanche.

the s. slopes trail is in horrible condition. wilderness? ya right. hey how about everyone just take a different way down so we can destroy this ecosysytem. By the way i summited at 12:30 am slept on the summit till 5:30 am and then went down

JJSouthwest Slope Route  Sucess!

What a wonderful trail. Great weather made for a relaxed day. Started out pretty mellow with just enough mileage to get the legs warmed up and then came the elevation gain. Popping out of treeline the view of Yales summit cone is quite impressive. There is some fun scrambling on the NE side of the main summit block. On the way down I found the easier main trail on the S side. Overall a fun day with Lana and Traci.

Summited in about three hours and then descended the east ridge to summit Mascot Peak.
