Date Climbed: Mar 22, 2009

Thanks to the warm winter the snow in the couloir was pretty nice for a March climb. The sidewall however decided to shed a layer down on us. The crux still had enough snow on it that it seemed more like a short class 3 scramble. A great climb overall!

This was a fun and fast climb with Haliku. We had a moment of mutual respect with the skiers about to descend.

I climbed with slowpoke. The couloir had somewhere around a foot of new snow in it covering the wet and poorly consolidated snow underneath. The climb consisted of a relentless plowing upward to form a trench. It was good that there was a big group of us up there to break trail! Plenty of spindrift blowing up the couloir, with a couple of small snow slides near the top. Did I mention that it felt freaking cold! What month was it again? It sure felt like a winter climb!

Roam AroundFirst of the season  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Apr 26, 2008

First couloir of the season! Conditions varied from really stable avy debris to complete sugar powder - but no slabs forming up the whole length.

Timothy PearlAwesome Autumn Climb?  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 30, 2007

Who'da thunk it? Turned out to be sweet conditions! Enough snow to avoid scree, enough rock to keep it exciting, non-threatening weather, dry approach hike. I couldn't imagine it any better! I recommend light rack and small rope in the Autumn. With Jim C.

Date Climbed: Jun 10, 2007

My wife and I found excellent snow conditions. The recent cool spell meant super hard snow with even a few icy spots. We only saw two others on the climb. A guide and his client that we passed before the fork. The hard snow made the steep parts easy. The rock step is super melted out with lots of loose stuff. Great route.

With Adam. Fun snow climb, but the early June snow required postholing much of Flattop trail--irritating. Should have glissaded down Tyndall Glacier! Now I know!

The hike into the climbing area is spectacular. The climb itself is gorgeous. The spines of rock create beautiful couloirs that hold great snow. This route was easy/moderate snow/ice. The mixed stuff was SHORT- 10 feets or so. Watch that cornice up top!
