If you do this hike from April through early June you will be rewarded with great views of the four water falls.

Yosemite Falls, Royal Arches Cascade, Illouette, Vernal & Nevada. I don't think you can see Staircase Falls. The main trail was good this day. We went up to the buttress apron because we couldn't find the trail start. Followed game trails up the left side of the cliffs until we found the real trail. Then followed the real trail down on the return.

SpiderSavageRe: Sierra point

The remains of the rusty cable is down a slide about 40 feet below the trail.

Bill Kishoff the beaten path

One of the best ways to get off the beaten path in the Valley.

An excellent, and very short, hike in the Valley. Great views from the top.

Quick trip up to Sierra Point in the morning. Flow from all four falls was at impressive levels.
Ended up tripping and breaking my ankle near the Vernal Falls Bridge (of all places) later in the morning.
Pics are here

While my father and I were lucky enough to find another group of hikers heading up to the point who had someone who had been there before, it would be quite easy enough to find the start. From the High Sierra Camp sign, head around the big rock (46 paces or so) and head up. There is an obvious route through the rocks, then you come upon a use trail that will lead you to the trail.

Only a few spots where the trail gets tough to follow. One while going up. You come to a spot where a use trail does go straight, but your route is up to the left. It is a scramble up rocks though. Then coming down, you can see the trail going straight and left. The old trail would go straight, but dissapears in a rockfall area. Just follow the other trail down and you'll join in.

For best views, I'd reccommend scrambling up 10 feet above the point.

This year you can see Yosemite, Royal Arches, Vernal, Nevada and Illilouette Falls, plus falls off the panorama trail and the back side of Glacier point.
There used to be a rusty metal cable to pull your self up a nasty section but no sign of it is left

Any point where you can see Vernal, Nevada, Illilouette, and Yosemite Falls at the same time is fine by me! Just start scrambling up the boulders at the "Rockfall" sign and you'll come across it eventually. Loved it - it's not too often that you can have a beautiful view in Yosemite Valley without sharing it with a crowd.
