apeakhikera long day!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 19, 2007
We followed the directions to Lapon canyon. We found that we needed to turn on the first 4 way intersection of powerline road. I don't think we made it as far as bearbnz up the Lapon Canyon road. There were large boulders/rocks that would have been hard to pass. We followed the route instructions going up the road to the mine, than up the back of the canyon above the mine. We couldn't find the abandoned mine workers trail. When we got to the locked gate, it wasn't a problem. During our hike, several military type vehicles drove by, they didn't seem to mind that we were there. The rest of the hike was following the road, cutting switchbacks when appropriate. The last bit (class 2/3) was hard for me, but I am wimpy with that type of terrain. On the way back we made a miscalculation and ended going down a rough canyon, rather than the face above the mine. A beautiful day for an all day hike!
