| I brought some beginners to the knappysack on Saturday and we ended up climbing it twice. After a bottle of red wine I was feeling loose and felt solid and ready to free solo the route, but that meant the beginners would need to lead and follow it. I soloed next to the leader during the 1st pitch to ensure his placements were sound. It was a major rush, I had to scream when I reached the second belay, my breathing and heart rate were under control and my climbing was more precise than ever before. It's a easy climb and I've done it roped about 7 times within the last few months. I figured I would go up there one day by myself to free solo it and this was an unexpected surprise. I felt ready and solid, and climbed with perfection...Maybe I will head up again and do it alone a second time, free soloing is like therapy for me, it forces me to relax and puts everything into a very clear perceptive... |
