Peter GramFun Ridge  Sucess!

I scrambled along this ridge some time in 2004. It was a great introduction to the Wasatch after recently moving to SLC.

I've managed to complete it twice, been chased off by Thunder storms on other attempts. Also a few times optioned out of White Baldy due to group fatigue.

Lots of snow / lots of wind. Had some route-finding issues on Red Baldy and ran out of time on White Baldy, descended to White Pine Lake / Trailhead, finished with 6 out of the 7 summits. Loved the scrambling!

I originally did this one with Jason in August of 1991. I returned with Dad in 2004. The scrambling seemed pretty modest until reaching the east ridge of Red Baldy. Dad descended down into White Pine while I ascended the ridge. A couple sections were pretty tricky/exposed, class 4, and then the last 300 feet to the summit were a blast. Great ridge run over Salt Lake County's highpoint.

I have never heard of this hike, but always wanted to hike the ridge line from Alta to Lone peak. I had planned on someone coming with but they all bailed at the last moment. I had also planned on two full days. When darkness came I felt so good that I hike through the night.

All in all, it took 25.5 hour(part of that was hiking up the road to my car from the mouth of the canyon to Alta) and about 18,000 feet of elevation change.

Next time in the winter!

Sugarloaf to Red Baldy, with a short sidetrip to the "Bastard Son", the third peak of American Fork Twins. Incredible route and a great group of people to hike with. Hazy day; there must have been a fire somewhere. My favorite part was climbing up Red Baldy.

Awesome traverse. Started at White Pine trailhead. Up pass White Pine lake then to White Baldy. Up over Red Baldy and Red Top Mtn. Then over to west, south (?) and east American Fork Twin. Down to Hidden peak then up to Mt. Baldy and Sugarloaf. Descend down to Secret Lake and the just hiked down a ski run to Albion Lodge. Soloed so no car shuttle so I just hopped on my bike and rode down to White Pine Trailhead. Total time was 9 hours.

What an awesome day, very fun ridge run. Skipped Sugarloaf as I had done it a few days prior with Devil's Castle, but took the north ridge of White Baldy down and it was steep and interesting.

Climbed again this time with sugarloaf and Devil's Castle.

Great day--With my man Gutloaf and Joe B, started at 5am with Devil's Castle, then to Sugarloaf, Baldy, Hidden, AM Fork Twins, Red Stack, Red Baldy, & finally White Baldy. Saw moose right out of the car, mountain goats, and Justin was nearly attacked by a hummingbird on top of Red Baldy.

I did this killer hike with Asher and Super Joe. It was great. We started with Devil's Castle and ended with White Baldy. I almost gave up before hitting the summit of White Baldy because I was so beat, but decided to grind it out. I'm glad I did. Thanks to my man Asher and to Joe for leading the way.

Bullion Divide: July 20, 2003 and September 17, 2004 - This ridge traverse goes over many mountains including the highest above Salt Lake City: American Fork Twin Peaks. It starts from Alta and ends at White Pine trailhead although you could add more peaks if you wanted to.

Super Beatout: September 2, 2007 - I did Bullion Divide in combination with the Beatout Hike. I’m glad I finally got to do this ridge traverse. I was a long and tiring day but worth it because of the great views and fun scrambling.
