First time up Ontario. Enjoyable trail, though the trees along the ridge looked sad in the second summer of drought.

Saw someone on top of the false summit but the trail keeps going to the true summit (no register we could find though). Lots of the new tree growth looks diseased but it could be from drought. Nice hike with amazing views. One one side the vast city and on the other side just mountains. You could boulder at the top but it's kinda high off the deck - I'd want a toprope.

I really love this trail. Great place to spend the night looking at the vast valley of lights below.

I did this peak solo after doing Cucamonga Peak with a group. The area between Kelly's camp and the ridge is interesting semi-barren terrain. After you get on the ridge headed toward the summit, there are literally dozens of large logs strewn across the trail. After coming down from Ontario, I did BigHorn as well. It was a beautiful day and the superb trails make these peaks so accessible.

All the felled trees blocking the trail made it feel as if I was running on an obstacle course. The lack of trees does allow one to get better shots of the surrounding countryside though.

Does anyone know why all the trees along this route are dead? Doesn't really look like a burn, I guess.
