Through the backcountry gate near the top of the Olympic Chair. Short walk to one of the best views of Tahoe.

Hiked this highpoint in the summer with my grandma. took the gondola up and went from there. Pretty easy hike but grandma struggled a bit with the altitude. Fun to hike a highpoint or peak in general with her as it is a seldom repeated activity.

I skied over from the Nevada side and then rode the Olympic chair up to the top. From there I put my skiis on my shoulder and huffed up to the top but I had a nice ski down.

I barely made the peak and I was headed back down when the Heavenly Valley resort employee on the ATV told me to head back down the gondola because a lightning storm was a comin'. Lightning never really materialized but they play it better safe than sorry I guess.

Followed mostly service roads and ski trails to the summit. Lots of construction and erosion control happening at the Heavenly resort, making it impossible to avoid detection. We were only accosted once by construction crews, but this made for a less-than-satisfying wilderness experience. Of all the Nevada county highpoints I've done, this was probably the least rewarding.

Hiked with ShaggyP.
Left from Stagecoach Lodge/Tahoe Rim trail head - but took mostly service roads since the rim trail goes out of the way and we were pressed for time.
Dirty feet aside, the ascent (and descent) were not very difficult even in flip-flops. Mind your footing on the granite rocks should you attempt in said apparel.

Decided, as usual, to hit a hike at about 10pm the night before, only had a few hours due to prior engagements on both my friend and my own part so we decided to come visit one of our favorite places to board in the winter and get in a nice easy summer highpoint out of the near 100 degree weather of Reno. Service roads and use trails make for an easy line to the top where we were suprised to see a register. Up and back we used up less than 4 hours including a half hour break on top. Also becoming a trend, my partner on hearing stories of my recent trip to Thunder Mountain psyched himself out so much he ended up forgetting his shoes in Reno and got to try out hiking in flip flops for himself.

Olympic Chair was open, so I walked the 50 yards or so from the top of the chairlift to the summit. Nice views of South Shore and Monument.
