| I decided to just go back to the cairn, and not try anymore shortcuts. I located the cairn, and started up though I was a little concerned because I was approaching my turn-around time. There is somewhat of a trail at the beginning, and the path is also very well ducked. I had climbed about 800 feet amidst the boulders when I was amazed to meet another hiker. He was on his way down, and I was relieved when he informed me that I almost to the summit. We talked for awhile, and I made my way to the top. I had a short break on the windy summit, I took some pictures, and headed back down. On the way back down I met that other hiker again where he was setting up camp, and we talked for awhile. I continued on back down to the PCT, and started moving right along to finish the final 6 downhill miles before dark.
