| My friend Jeffry and I climbed to the top of the tallest Kelso Dune on the afternoon of Sunday February 19, 2006. The weather was great, partly to mostly cloudy and cool. I would not attempt to climb the dunes when it was warm or hot outside, it's hard enough to do when it's cool! At times the going was very slow and tough - the steepest section we hiked up was probably at a 70* angle! But the views from the top are worth the climb. On the way down we were able to create the "booming" noise and that was so cool. Not only do you hear the low resonant noise, you feel it vibrating up through your legs! Simply awesome... Unlike anything else I've ever experienced!
Bring a windbreaker and lots of water and be prepared for having sand in every conceiveable nook and cranny after the climb... |
