| My friend Leon Cheney and I headed out to the Oregon coast on a perfectly glorious and warm December day during one of the driest winters ever in the Pacific Northest. We didn't climb Onion Peak per se, but rather the higher (3076 feet), unnamed point west of Onion. Because it is higher than the named summit, West Onion gets all the prominence on the ridge, hence my interest. West Onion is the 37th most prominent peak in Oregon, at 2,356 feet of prominence. |
