| The first time was on the second day of a delightful 4-day sojourn in the Southern Sierra, my first visit to the area: Lamont Peak in the morning, then this one via its south/southwest ridge from the PCT in the afternoon. Followed the excellent recommendation in Jenkins' guidebook to descend a canyon to the west to return to the PCT more directly than where I left it... scenic and enjoyable.
The second time was in the fall of the same year, after climbing Spanish Needle earlier in the day with Bob. Again climbed the south "ridge", this time returning via the peak's steep, loose SE side to head back to Sand Canyon. |
