snowclimber12crowded  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 5, 2009

cool rock for rock climbing but if you go on a weekend get there early because goat rock can get a little crowded, i usually opt to rock climb on other rocks in the surrounding area.

jpmossyclimbed this more times than I can count  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 3, 2009

Goat Rock was the second rock I climbed in the park and always a favorite (when it lacks crowds that is). I've been fortunate enough to sit atop this rock without a single person around many times. The views, especially at sunset are amazing. love the "stoner cave" at the top for hanging out in, making a pot of ramen, etc. I solo swiss chese every time im in the park and usually set up a rope for the 5.8 arete or the roof routes when i get to the top

Jared RaderHike and short scramble to (near) the top  Sucess!
I didn't actually climb the rock, but instead hiked to the top from the south east. From there, I did a short scramble to near the top. The views towards Big Basin and Ben Lomond are impressive.

lisaeSwiss Cheese, Arete  Sucess!

We've climbed at Goat Rock many times. I like the arete (5.8?) to the right of Swiss Cheese, in particular. I've never been able to pull the Great Roof. Sigh...

Al Pinethe pony party  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 7, 2006

As a part of my Rapid Fitness Programme (RFP) I decided to summit, climb, peakbag, get to the top of, stand atop, climb up to, hike to the top of, run to the top of, walk to the top of, scramble to the top of, bag, crawl to the top of, and summit rapidly, this great rock, mountain, jut in the side of a hill, jut in the side of a mountain, hill, summit, which some great few (or many) choose to call Goat (or Gort) Rock (or Roak).

Date Climbed: May 7, 2006

went with david, iamthebest, iamthebest's brother and his gf, and al pine. iamthebest and al pine didn't climb but the rest of us did. we set up our toprope above the great roof. i climbed up but wimped out short of the roof. iamthebest's brother was the only one to climb it succesfully but when he came down he rated it 5.scary. i did hike to the top though so i can say i successfully summited it (or is that too lame).
