| Climbed the chute from LCC road. The very bottom was devoid of snow and light snow partially covered loose rock about to the quarter mark. At this time we fitted crampons and used our axes. It still was a challenge even though the snow was partially consolidated from a storm 2 weeks earlier. Beneath the snow the rock was not fully cemented in place from the frozen ground. This made the assent and descent a bit stressful. Three of us climbed and summited the chute. Next time with little snow and loose rock and inexperienced partners, I'd feel better roping up for their safety and my peace of mind. |
