Damn this log hasn't been signed forever, Ive done this hike before but we just went in Kane Gulch camped and came out. This time we stashed our mountain bikes at the Bullet Canyon trail head and entered via Kane Gulch explored Kane Gulch, then exited via Bullet Canyon grabbed our bikes and rode the 7 mile back to my truck making a good 30 mile circle. everything went well except I think I contracted Giardia :(

One of my favorite hikes to do, I would like to explore Bullet Canyon more.

Amazing Anasazi ruins and artifact here!

Went to Split level ruin via a descent into Todie canyon. It is not for the faint hearted. I missed a cairn and ended up corkscrewing under and between boulders before I made it to the canyon bottom. The rest of Todie canyon was a fun walk on the boulders and rocks that have tumbled into the running creek. Grand Gulch's brushy, mostly level trail brings you right into some ruins, and right under others, depending on which branch of the erratic trail you take. I had never heard of Grand Gulch before planning this vacation, but I would reccomend it as a MUST.

My understanding wife allowed me to spend a month on the Navajo Reservation at Sage Hospital in Ganado and clinic during my 2nd year of my training. Spent 3 of 4 weekends backpacking and hiking. My last weekend a medical student and I drove up to Natural Bridges NM, hiked the loop under all 3 bridges and camped. The next day we \drove south and did a short hike in the upper gulch and headed back through the Monument Valley. I wish I had more time to explore the Gulch. What a great place!

A wonderful outdoor museum. I hope this region will remain a special place for those lucky enough to see it in pristine condition.

Did the canyon in a whirlwind trip of 2 days including as much side stuff as we could. Caught in a bit of a flash flood - pretty spooky place to be when water is pouring down

Kane Gulch - Bullet Canyon (April 20-22, 2001) Three day backpack in this nice canyon area in Cedar Mesa. Explored the ruins and petroglyphs along the way. I recommend this place for anyone who enjoys Anasazi history.
