My climbing buddy and me picked the perfect day for a winter hike of Little Jackson. Not a cloud in the sky, and it was 40 degrees on the trail up to the open summit, where it was a little colder and windier. Outstanding views in every direction from Bigelow to Mt. Washington.

Great visit to this peak on a cool (49 F) June morning. Stiff winds and fast moving clouds added to the alpine experience on Little Jackson. Easy to follow path to the summit of Jackson from the col but I resisted the urge to head up as the summit didn't look 1/10th as interesting as its lower sister peak. Directions on this page are right on the money. Solo hike ... saw no one else.

Gotta love the Maine woods. Next to the Adirondacks, there is no better hiking in the Northeast.

A nice walk through the woods on a cool August morning. Above treeline felt more like late October... COLD and WIND! Lots of fun... I was shocked at how expansive the alpine zone is up there. Blueberries everywhere.
