CortezHump Mt. from Elk Park  Sucess!
Date Climbed: May 11, 2008

Climbed Hump from AT trailhead near Elk Park, NC. Absolutely pristine hike through the woods to the treeline. Although the trail gained over 2000 ft in elev. it was gradual & pleasant. The summit views are spectacular on a clear/semi-clear day.

Went up from little hump in the pre-dawn hours, expecting an awesome sunrise. Instead, nothing but fog / drizzle. It was very surreal, esp. when I started hearing cows in the darkness and light of headlamp.

Peter LarkinsLittle Horse Creek Rd. - NF access trail  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Feb 26, 2005

Hiked up old forest service road/ATV trail from a dirt road off of Hwy 19E, southwest of Elk Park. This way is shorter than hiking from Elk Park, but I'm unsure of the exact milage. It was cold and windy with some deep snow drifts of past storms. The views are aplenty.
