| Climbed up Thunderhead via the Russell Field Trail during a four day backpacking trip. Stayed at Spence Field Shelter and had a visit from a bear. A little bit of haze on top but the views from Rocky Top were still outstanding. | |

| Beautiful day for a hike. The views were awesome - starting at Spence Field. If I had to do it again, I would stop at Rocky Top as there wasn't much of a view from Thunderhead. | |

| Climbed these on the way to the Dome up from Cades Cove. Met a guy whom the park service had armed with a pistol. He was from Ross Ohio and asked us about the corn back in Butler Co. Ohio. His task was to shoot European boars that the park service had trapped along the ridges and then rebait the traps. He said he rolled them down the mountain and the bears ate them. These introduced boars damage ground nesting birds and salamanders | |
