This made for a very pleasant outing with two co-workers the afternoon before a busy multi-day conference. The veiws were nice but even better were the wildflowers. The poppies in particular were stunning. The drive to the trailhead was enjoyable. We cam up Page Mill Road from Palo Alto. I don't recommend this route if you are prone to motion sickness. Partners: Rashmi & Jolinda.

copegGreat view  Sucess!

An amazing place to go for an early or late hike to watch the sunrise or sunset. Sunset are really nice from the top as the sun sets over the pacific.

mpjonesAn Early Morning Birthday Hike  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jun 30, 2006

Came up here around sunrise. Pleasantly warm and very pretty. A little celebration of my last day in the northern hemisphere for almost a month.

rhyangmakes for a fun MTB ride

I like to start from Woodside and ride up Alpine Road (unpaved, some short singletrack sections), then take some of the trails in the Coal Creek OSP up to Skyline, then hit Borel, and then a few laps on the Ancient Oaks trail (fun singletrack riding !) Great evening / after-work training ride during the summer.

Alpine Road is open all year long (and unlike many other south bay trails night riding is legal on it), but some of the open space preserves can have seasonal closures to mountain bikes due to muddy conditions. Usually I like to do this ride in warmer temps, spring through fall.

coastclimberNice hike any time of the year  Sucess!

Have hiked up Borel a few times in the last few years. Can be really windy and chilly in fall/winter. Great place to watch the red-tailed hawks circling!

catullusPart of longer bike ride  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 26, 2006

Biked from Stanford, up Windy Hill, across Skyline Boulevard, and up Borel Hill. Descended to Skyline, then down through the Coral Creek Open Space Preserve to Alpine, and back to Stanford. Quite a tiring and beautiful bike ride.
