wyopeakMikefrom Cucamonga  Sucess!

Only once did I go over from Cucamonga Peak and sit on top of the great little summit of Etiwanda, it was well worth it.

cabFrom Cucamonga  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 5, 2009

Up Falling Rock Canyon to Sugarloaf, over to Ontario, Bighorn, and Cucamonga, then to Etiwanda on the ridge. Came back up the ridge to near the summit of Cucamonga, down to Bighorn-Cucamonga saddle, over to Icehouse Canyon saddle, and down Icehouse Canyon trail. 9 hours total. Pretty cold and windy all day; loved it.

Came over from Cucamonga again. Really nice area. The northern slope is quiet with nice trees and whatnot. Scared a family off the summit on accident by proclaiming my love for Allah.

Date Climbed: Nov 14, 2008

Hiked on a Friday and hardly saw anybody on the trail from Icehouse to Cucamonga. Continued on to Etiwanda Peak which was a nice extra couple of miles that really had a wilderness feel. Great views all the way from Cucamonga Saddle to Etiwanda.

TripoliRickMiddle fork/South fork loop  Sucess!

Derek (that had been on Barstow Desert Rescue with me) had just finished OCS and was going to Fort Knox to be a tank commander. We wanted to do something different but got a very late start and went up Lytle Creek instead of driving to Baldy. So a hike up Etiwanda via Cucamonga Peak was in order but instead of the usual Icehouse Canyon route, we went up Middle Fork of Lytle Creek to the saddle and up Cucamonga and then to Etawanda Peak. We then hiked down to the Joe Elliot Tree and decided to catch a ride back down since the sun was now down. Earlier start helps! (:

Hiked it with Haili and Ryan from Icehouse Canyon. Sweeping views of Cucamonga Peak back towards Mount San Antonio in the North. San Gorgonio and San Jacinto are clearly visible to the East. Clouds shrouded the view of the Inland Empire below, but made for surreal pictures. Extensive burn area south and east of the peak. No marker or summit-log to be seen there.

Date Climbed: Oct 12, 2007

Went up with Fritz and his girlfriend. FInally got this peak, not that it's been itching, just that I was right next to it the day before this page was created. I had no idea it was named. Now, I've been there. Very uneventful summit with fantastic views, especially of Cucamonga Peak. Some nice looking possible routes heading up the south side.

David RosenbergGreat Peak  Sucess!
Climbed it twice, the traditional way from Icehouse. Great wilderness feel compared to the Cucamonga traffic jam.

An enjoyable outing with Ryan Spaulding, Rick Graham, Tom Becht, and Glenn Gookin. Extremely cold temps and some fresh snow made for a winter wonderland. Trip Report

bechtt5 Peaks Hike  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Nov 26, 2006

Hiked 5 peaks (plus Ontario false peak) with Travis via Falling Rock Canyon (great cl.2/3 scramble.) Hit Sugarloaf, Ontario, Bighorn, Cucamonga, and Etiwanda before exiting via the Icehouse Canyon trail. We were fortunate to get great views from all five summits before the clouds enveloped the peaks.

Sometime in 2002 before the fires. I climbed this. Since I posted the mountain, I figured I might as well be the first to sign the log.
