What Matthew said below. Except for the part about perfect weather (if was pretty cold except for the middle of the day) and the abandoned Jeep track. There were numerous not-so-old tracks on the road that I would have guessed to be completely unnavigable. Those 4x4 guys must be nuts. Trip Report

Excellent winter outing with Bob, with great views and perfect weather the whole day. We started from the frontage road along I-80, hiked along Eagle Lakes Road and the Beyers Lake trail, and made our way up to the SW Ridge. Hiked along there to the summit, a very short but fun scramble. There were outstanding views of the Sierra Buttes, English Mtn, and the rest of the Northern Sierra. Descended the SE side past Wagon Wheel Lake to tag Old Man Mtn, and after an interesting and eventually brushy descent off Old Man, we slipped and slid our way along miles of ice along an abandoned jeep trail back to the car.

1000PksVia Glacier Lake  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Sep 10, 2006

Starting at Grouse Ridge TH, we topped the peak in 2.5 hours. My 7X. Nice to get some digital photos for the peak page. Pretty rough road to TH--I drove about 3.5 mph to ease my passenger car over the rocks and potholes.
