| Climbed with Meleah and Mike Hoyt; good trail most of the way, but it's a grunt! We had intended to also do Saint Joseph Peak, but ran into spitting snow around 8,000 feet, which by the time we hit the summit (9,033'), was steady, with a cold wind and almost no visibility. At this point it was our unanimous decision to turn around--footing was quite uncertain, Saint Joseph's was still two miles away via a ridge that gets pounded with wind, plus that summit was still over 500 feet higher than where we were. It's always difficult to turn back, but it was a no-brainer--absolutely the right call! |
