Date Climbed: Jul 18, 2005

Another fantastic Bitterroot summit. If I had to pick ONE area to seek my adventures in for the rest of my life, I'd have to choose the Selway-Bitterroot country. P.S. This is not the exact date of my climb. (My apologies to the purists)

vernon's birthday climb. unfortunately the regular joe part got white room snowed out. still a fun day out with mike hoyt and vernon. the trail didn't seem too grunt-y to me. can see how this would be a fun backcountry ski destination.

Climbed with Meleah and Mike Hoyt; good trail most of the way, but it's a grunt! We had intended to also do Saint Joseph Peak, but ran into spitting snow around 8,000 feet, which by the time we hit the summit (9,033'), was steady, with a cold wind and almost no visibility. At this point it was our unanimous decision to turn around--footing was quite uncertain, Saint Joseph's was still two miles away via a ridge that gets pounded with wind, plus that summit was still over 500 feet higher than where we were. It's always difficult to turn back, but it was a no-brainer--absolutely the right call!

A fabulous place for bc skiing. We arrived at summit a bit late...looked at St. Joe, but decided to do it a different day.

This was one of my favorite outings of the year. It also motivated me to take on Saint Joseph the following year.

Date Climbed: Jun 17, 2009

17jun09 - Climbed to the summit for the first time on snow. I just wanted to see what it was like!

4sep08 - Planned to climb Saint Joseph with Vernon and Meleah, but turned back at the summit of Little St Joe because of bad weather. The falling snow was making the footing hazardous and we decided it was best not to push our luck.

12sep06 - Used Little St Joe route during successful attempt on St Joseph.

8aug06 - Used Little St Joe route during unsuccessful attempt on St Joseph.

7sep05 - Used Little St Joe route during reconnaissance trip to determine possible routes to St Joseph's summit.

2005 - One earlier trip to Little St Joe's summit, but I've forgotten the exact date.
