montaneerWinter Storm Warning!!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Jan 3, 2007

Did this hike in the face of a winter storm warning. High winds and blowing snow left awesome drifts and low visibility. The climb was amazing non-the-less and with sleds the real fun was tobogganing back out.

High winds and low visibility made for a hell of an adventure. Cleared up near the summit absolutely gorgeous

Followed Montanaboy's directions to the summit from Harkness Lakes. A cool day but windy! Great views and scenery.

bakcastEighteen Mile Peak and Cottonwood  Sucess!

Beautiful day, we were shooting for Italian Peak but forgot our stove so we stayed at Harkness Lakes and did a long loop up the Ramp to Eighteen Mile Peak and on over to Cottonwood Pk. Amazing mellow hike. Some class 2-3 on ridge just below summit of 18 mile pk. Lots of critters on the benches around 9,000 feet.

Can't remember exactly when I climbed it. I was a around 12 years old. We saw a huge heard of elk cross the bench before the northeast ramp.

Wide open country describes this one - certainly my favorite terrain. Great scenery from start to finish.
