TLPFinished the NH 48 here!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 25, 2009

Wow, what can I say? I saved this one for last, and it was well worth it. I had the summit to myself, until a guy came down from Mt. Bond. He congratulated me on finishing the NH 48, and it turns out he was originally from NJ. This was a very happy day for me.

woodsxcFirst crampon trip!  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Feb 15, 2009

Hiked in from Lincoln woods. Camped at the Bondcliff trail junction and then snowshoed/hiked up. Put on crampons near the top and practiced proper techniques. This was one of my favorite trips this year.

I've done this one several times. Once you get past the first 7 miles of the Wilderness Trail, which is flat and very easy, you get some of the best hiking and views in the Whites. This is usually done along with Mt Bond, and West Bond. There is a nice place to camp before you get to the steep section below Bondcliff. It requires crossing the stream, and I couldn't possibly describe how to find it. If you ask the rangers they can usually help describe it.

This was part of a great trip across the Pemi as part of the AMC's MLS. The trails and views were outstanding. I highly recommend the route.

Climbed with Zeland via the Twinway Trail from Galehead. A truely fantastic mountain in every respect. Climbed on a perfect day after getting rained on the day before. Great views in every direction along the entire ridge. Plenty of blueberries too. I can't think of another mountain in New Hampshire that it this spectacular while maintaining a true wilderness feeling.

Sam PageAborted one-day Pemi-Loop  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 5, 2008

Managed 29 miles and 6100 vertical feet on a day with wet and muddy trails, intermittent rain, and three shoe-soaking, nerve-rattling stream crossings on the Franconia Brook Trail. Took 15+ hours.

Part of a weekend of Bond, Bond Cliff, Zealand. Guyout was almost full when we got there. Glad we had a tent. It filled so that folks were in overflow later. Still a bunch of snow and ice around, could have used crampons.

Just an awesome summit. I could see one's argument as to this being the best views in the White's

Most recently as part of a day hike to Bond from Lincoln Woods; previously as part of a four-day clockwise Pemi Loop. I liked the northern approach better, since it meant I didn't have to do the long, flat Wilderness Trail twice in one day . Also, the Bondcliff trail north of Bondcliff is one of the best ridge walks in the Whites, and much less crowded than Franconia Ridge or the Presis.

The trip was great although we didn't bring enough food. We wilderness camped friday, stayed at Guyot on Saturday night and summited Bondcliff, Bond, West Bond and Guyot. The hike out from Guyot on Sunday was very long and tough on an empty stomach.
