gfaulknerBeautiful Day  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Nov 1, 2009

Spent a wonderful afternoon hiking. Did the Boucher hill/Scott's cabin loop. Still a good bit of fall color. Ran in to some mule deer (Not literally). I was not typically San Diego terrain (That's a Good thing). Lots of poison oak! Great hiking/great place!

A drive to the summit and a visit of the observatory makes for a wonderful winter day trip.

Drove the crappy dirt road to the summit. 16 miles of about the worst road I've ever driven.

surgentUp Palomar Divide Road  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Aug 17, 2008

The road from the north in Aguanga was closed as was the road from Oak Grove, so we drove up the Palomar Divide Road. It went well. Drive up took about an hour, then a hike of about 45 minutes, then a slow drive down. All in all, not too bad. But I got lucky: the next day my timing belt in my truck went out! I shudder to think the tow cost if it had blown while up on this narrow road.

WoodzyFun Hike  Sucess!

I have done this hike many times over the years. But I have kept it legal, not too interested in getting in trouble for hiking up a couple hundred more feet to the highpoint. Go in the fall, it is amazing!

Date Climbed: Mar 20, 2008

I love getting paid to hike and collect flowers. Finally made it to this very cool summit, much nicer then I had imagined. Then drove over to the Lagunas and hiked Monument for more flowers. Great long day.

Glad I was driving a rental!! Long, tedious, rough road for a Ford Focus, but still made it without any noticable body damage. Weather was perfect! Had to go to High Point to truly "summit" Palomar Mtn. Did Boucher Hill also. Did I mention A LOT of driving?!

Ran around all over Palomar in middle and high school. Climbed on towers, toured observatory, got poison oak. Haven't been up there since the early 90s.

Date Climbed: May 21, 2006

Most of the hike is on a fire road. The last mile is through cool meadows which is a pleasant change from the typical chapparal of lower San Diego peaks.

Hiked from the county road below, near Hwy 76, which is now Palamar Springs Co. land. More illegal hiking, eh Bob?

Bob BurdSide trip  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Dec 28, 2005

I went up to Palomar simply to try an illegal hike to High Point, the HPS peak in the area. Covert hiking with my nine-year old was pretty fun. Some might say it was parental negligence. Screw 'em.
