The shade from the canyon was a welcome relief after baking on the trail leading up to the chains. Great drop offs and views leading to the canyon, and then it was fun to scramble around once in the canyon.Would definitely do it again, but not during the heat of the afternoon.
Dropped in, was a bit sketched cause of more cloud cover than normal.. Really fun, dry canyon, lots of good downclimbing, bring extra slings, some of the ones I saw were about to go.
headed back in the fall Date Climbed: Apr 28, 2007
i've done the east rim trail a couple of times and hiked right past this short spur and missed out on a pretty little hanging canyon. want to go back in the fall when the maples leaves are red and head even further up the canyon over the dryfalls (we probably didn't go more than 1/2 mi past the official end of the trail up into the canyon)
This is a great narrow canyon. It doesn't contain as much water as other canyons in Zion so it is dry for much of the year. There are numerous 5th class obstacles with fun scrambling higher in the canyon. I hope to do the top to bottom route in the future.
