Deb3 T's  Sucess!
Date Climbed: Oct 22, 2008

It was dark on the way in for my 3 T's hike/jogfest but on the way out thru the canyon I was indeed impressed with the fall foliage. The Big Leaf Maples were breath-taking as they floated onto the forest floor in front of me....all scarlet, orange and yellow.

Took the Icehouse Canyon as the approach to the 3T's trail. Many, many people on a Saturday morning. It thinned out quite dramatically after the saddle.

Hiked in Icehouse for years. Love spending the night on the summits. Awesome views at night of the valley and lights. Fun in Winter time as well!

hundy20 Years and counting  Sucess!

I starting hiking in 1985 and I started in Icehouse Canyon. My first trip ever was to Cedar Glen. I have been hiking the Icehouse Canyon Trail area since 1985 and continue to do so to this day. The first trip I take at the begining of any year is usally in Icehoue Canyon to start the year off and get back in shape. I hope to continue hiking it for another 20 years.

Didn't go to the saddle. Took my buddy along to help him get in shape. Had a thunderstorm come over about 1/2 mile past the wilderness border, sat and enjoyed the weather, then went home.

I will always use this as a training hike. A good 7miles or so round trip. This canyon is beautiful and reminds me of all the good times with the bros.

Date Climbed: May 27, 2007

This is a beautiful canyon that is reminiscent of the Sierra. Quaint little huts and a pretty stream...Lots and lots of people, but the higher you go the fewer there are. Boy scout troops appear to love this place and there are lots of kids hanging out at the saddle. We took Ontario Peak trail from the saddle and left everyone behind, then caught up with all of them again on the way down. A lovely local hike.

No such thing as too many times, but I have done this trail more times then I can count. It is a amazing trail connecting to so many great places.

banjobonchWeekly spot

This is where I enjoyed most of my hiking while living in CA. I'd always arrive before sunrise to beat the crowds (at least untill I came down!).

Great place to take my 15 month old in the summer. Adam I have been up here in winter and there is an avalanche slope just past the 2 mile post that seems to let go every year and take out some more trees.

Yes, it usually is crowded near the trailhead during the temperate season. But near the big saddle and, as it colder colder, the crowds thin. It is a beautiful canyon giving access to a lot of nice peaks.

A great place to go for a walk in nature if you're a bit short on time.

It can get somewhat crowded, as it is close to Los Angeles and similar cities.
