| I assume its a rarity to see snow on a desert peak, but this was indeed a rare day. Light rain greeted me at the TH and turned to snow around 3000 feet and never let up. Turned around at about 4000 feet due to low vis, and too much slushy accumulation on the boulders. Of course, by the time I got back to the Mortero Palms (where are they??) the snow had stopped and you could see the summit. Weather forecasters completely blew it. Light rain and gusty winds? Try heavy snow and almost no wind. I'm sure to have better luck next time. |
