A fun and scenic starter snow climb. I went up to the ski lifts, then part way up Thunder's west northwest drainage. Turned around when I got on some icy steep stuff that I didn't like (a wrong turn).

CLimbed up into one of the steeper couloirs past the turn, and got onto good ice covered in crap snow. Snow picked up bigtime, snowing graupel in sideways, so I slowly booked it down the steep stuff.

A somewhat scenic and much more rugged route than the service road. Not a difficult route, which makes it very pleasant. If you want something hard with a better view, keep going up when the wash turns left/north. You can reach Thunder Ridge South from there.
